big apples vintage lucite necklace

Description

Seven fabulous big (14mm) marbled rose red vintage lucite rounds wirewrapped with oxidized sterling wire, and combined with delicate black gunmetal chain. Oxidized sterling clasp. The necklace measures appr. 49 cm.

This necklace uses the same beads as my Red apples necklace, but they are one size bigger.

Vintage lucite was a high quality plastic used in costume jewelry from the 1940s. Although more substantial than other plastic beads, it is surprisingly light weight and has a luscious shine and feel to it that makes it very different from modern plastic. Lucite beads are often seamless, as they are cut from a tube of lucite rather than press molded.
