Mermaid Sake Set w/ octopus cup

Description

This little mermaid has a friend! She slowly swims down, winding her way around the decanter, her red hair flowing in curls up behind her, propelled by her long, sinuous green tail. Her friend, the octopus, follows her loyally.

This is a series I worked on over the summer, spending numerous hours on exacting detail. The decanter is glazed in a clear crackle over the green and red-pink of the mermaid, and the green of her tail is echoed in the green interior glaze. The octopus cup stands tall on his tentacles, glazed in Moonscape, a grey-blue glaze with hints of purple and red.

All glazes used are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they will last longer if you treat them with care and wash by hand!

The decanter stands 7" tall, and holds 16oz of your choice of liquid. The cup, with legs, is 3 1/2 inches tall and holds about 4 ounces.

Thrown from Flint Hills, Kansas porcelain, hand altered & painted, glazed and fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln.
