Vintage Sewing Basked, Coiled, Woven, and Painted

Description

The primitive folk art sewing basket is coiled and woven and painted with colorful fruit. The vintage basket dates to the early 20th century, I believe, and came from a family in North Carolina (though I don't know where it was originally made). The basket is oval and has a smaller raised oval on the lid, which helps secure it on the bottom of the basket. The craftsmanship on this is very fine, as you can clearly on the bottom of the basket.

The basket is in good condition. The top has some damage to it and chipping paint (as well as crackle on the varnish all over). The bottom is in very good condition except for some uncoiled sections and a small missing segment around the rim, and a small amount of damage around the base. It's still a wonderful piece of art.
