Description

Asphodel is a sunny, soft felt necklace in a rich array of lemon, saffron and buttercup shades. I made the felt piece from silk tops, merino roving, wool nepps, soy silk fibre, cotton scrim and silk carrier rod fibre, and then embellished the surface with couched thread, hand embroidery and glass and metal beads.

Asphodel is backed with black felt, which makes the whole piece flexible and very lightweight. Her edges are whip-stitched in radiant yellow embroidery cotton.

Asphodel's antiqued brass chain measures 16" approximately in total (so 8" either side), and closes with a lobster clasp. Her felt measures 3 1/2" x 1 1/8" (9cm x 2.8cm).

I loved making this necklace. She is unusual, and one-of-a-kind: there will never be another quite like her! I hope whoever gets to take her home will love her just as much!
