French Butter Crock in Blues

Description

The French Butter Crock, also known as a French Butter Keeper was designed before the days of refrigeration. It will keep your butter fresh, soft and spreadable at room temperature.

The butter is packed into the hollow lid and it is turned upside down while serving the butter. You keep it in the base when not in use. Fill the base with enough water to form a seal with the butter when the lid is in place.

This butter keeper is 3" high and 4.25" wide. It is glazed in dark blue and a light periwinkle blue.

I mix all my own glazes. They are lead-free, food safe and dishwasher safe too.

Some French Butter Keeper "guidelines"
-Change the water every few days
-Keep out of direct sunlight (heat + butter = melted butter!)
-If you use unsalted butter, salt the water. This helps to prevent mold.
