Lois' Baby Booties Pattern

All newborn babies should have a pair of handknitted baby booties. These booties were inspired by the countless pairs that my great-grandmother Lois knit for her grandchildren.

Yarn requirements: Approximately 100 yards of fingering weight (13 wpi) handspun or commercial yarn.

Needle size: US size 3 (3.25 mm) double-pointed needles (DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge of 26 stitches and 34 rows over 4 inches in stockinette stitch. The pattern was developed for DPNs, but circular needles can easily be substituted.
