Vintage 1930's Black and Red Rayon Crepe Cocktail Dress L

Description

This late 1930's Stanley Korshak dress is a really beauty, in black rayon crepe with pleated carmine red accents at the neckline. Very well made, and obviously a high end piece of the period, it has a Petersham interior grosgrain belt to ensure a perfect fit at the waist and the buttonholes are bound.

It's a shirtwaist style, with covered buttons fastening to the waist. The sleeves are ruched with four pleats at the bottom, and the skirt is long and graceful.

What can I say, it's a classic and elegant late 1930s dress that I sure wish fit me. Manhattan, anyone?

The Measurements: 40-41 inches bust, 30 inches waist, 42 hips, 16 shoulder to shoulder, 19 sleeves (to longest point), 17 mid shoulder to waist seam, 47 mid shoulder to hem on the front, 49 on the back.

The Condition: Excellent, just two minor and very unobtrusive flaws: there's a tiny well done mend on the upper right side of the skirt which is nearly invisible, and two faint iron shine marks at the top of two seams just below the waist. (See last two photos.)
