Handmade Pottery - Giraffe Wall Pocket in Harvest Gold

I've become enamored with giraffes recently. They are so beautiful and can see to the horizon. As animal totems, they assist us to see beyond what is right in front of us and focus on what's coming from the horizon. This is why I added the words "vision" to my wall pocket! What's in your future? What's in future for humanity?

My earthy wall pockets will grace your walls alone or with a dry decoration. I hand-built these in my own studio, using a rolling pin to roll out the dark brown stoneware clay into a slab; then I cut out the shapes free-form style. This is why the design is lose and free flowing. I then embellish the slabs with my stamp collection and assemble the parts! Hand rolled coils were added around the top and across the pocket for additional strength and support.

Glazed in warm earth hues; including chun plum on inside, and ochre and albany slip brown on the outside. Pockets were fired to cone 6 in my electric kiln and are very durable.
