Simon Battles the Dragon a Large 16x20 Photographic Art Print
Description
This is a photographic print of a painting I did called "Simon Battles the Dragon". The photographic print is very lovely. It is the absolute best way I have found to create larger, long-lasting, true to color, slick reproductions of my artwork. Much better than digital prints in my opinion and much more affordable than high end art prints. I am a strong believer that art should be affordable as well as high quality. It is a standard size 16" x 20" that is ready to frame and I will sign each print prior to shipping. Each print will ship in a protective cardboard tube.About the artwork:
The original painting is 3ft x4ft and acrylic on canvas. Painted by Amy Davis Roth (me) in 2009
This artwork is called “Simon Battles the Dragon”. It is the story of Simon Singh and his battle with The British Chiropractic Association and more specifically with the English Libel Laws.
Simon Singh is a science writer who published a story criticizing chiropractors who perform ineffective and potentially dangerous spinal manipulation on children for ailments such as asthma, ear infections and colic. There is no legitimate scientific evidence proving that these treatments are effective for these conditions and Simon reported that these treatments are "bogus". The BCA, instead of attempting to legitimize their profession either by stopping these treatments or by attempting to prove their efficacy in turn sued Simon under the British Libel Law. Unlike in the USA, when you are sued for libel in the UK, the burden of proof is on the the accused and not those filing the charges. The libel laws are also notoriously expensive and time consuming and very few can afford to defend themselves when accused. Essentially these laws (and this case is a perfect example) are causing science journalists to be afraid to publish scientific facts. Writers across the globe fear coming under the wrath of alternative medicine giants like the BCA and landing in an English courtroom (with lawsuit price tags in the hundreds of thousands of dollars). Luckily, Mr. Singh is in a position to fight this lawsuit and hopefully he will win and return free speech to journalists everywhere. Let's not forget that the Chiropractors have yet to prove that their treatments on children are effective. One would think that should be their priority, not trying to silence science writers.
