This painting is one of a new series of small abstract paintings on paper, as essences or distillations of colour in landscape. I find inspiration in the environment, in the elemental signs of the seasons, of erosion or gradual decay, crumbling walls, encrusted patinas, coastal facades, weathered surfaces, architectural details, textural striations, manmade structures exposed to the natural elements.
