Description

Any writer or artists' dream come true, this book looks like it has weathered the centuries. This is a special edition book, as I do not make many of these with the lock embellishment. It would make a lovely wedding guestbook or album.

SIZE: 9" high x 6" wide x 1½" thick (pages are 8½"x5½") and is quite substantial. It's basically twice the size of my regular journals, so there's a lot of book here!

PAGES: 320-pages (counting both sides) - edges are not handtorn

PAPER: good quality white unlined 28 lb./105 gsm writing paper, acid free/archival; paper is very smooth and would also make good drawing paper for any dry medium.

The book opens flat.

The leather is a rough-and-tumble distressed honey brown cowhide complete with scars and scratches, which make for a unique rugged look. It has a handy metal stud closure which keeps the book closed and protects the pages within. A non-functioning brass "lock" embellishment has been used in the journal's closure, as the stud peaks through the keyhole, keeping the journal closed.

The page sections have been hand-stitched to the leather cover with beeswaxed Irish linen thread, which is attractively visible on the spine; it's a very sturdy permanent binding (non-refillable).

Each book comes with a little "card of interest" containing information about your book such as the type of leather, the history of the binding, and the stitch. Makes a lovely addition as a gift!
