This abstract painting is one of a new series of small abstracts on paper, as essences or distillations of colour in landscape. I find inspiration in the environment, in the elemental signs of the seasons, of erosion, corrosion or gradual decay, crumbling walls, encrusted patinas, worn facades, eroded surfaces, waterlines and traces, textural striations, structures exposed to the natural elements.
