20th Century Cufflinks Retractable Chain Onyx Crystal

Description

Beautiful black onyx and crystal cufflinks in a gold tone setting with a unique retractable chain mechanism. Perfect for the dressy man at any formal affair.

The best information I can find on these kinds of links is the approximate date of 1950's and that the chain design is likely French. I found very little otherwise. They are unmarked, but are similar to Murat links.


The round tops measure approx. 20mm / 3/4 inches.

Really nice vintage condition with a few slight dings on the edges and there is surface rubbing as can be seen in the pictures, and in the first and last shot you can see a bend / fold in the casing. The mechanics work very well. I buffed them a little with no compound, you should have them cleaned / buffed / polished professionally.

The onyx has little facet cuts on the edge of the stone to offer a bit of animation.

I don't know the metal, it looks like gold to me, but it does attract a magnet, however, there is some kind of spring mechanism inside the casing that I assume is another type of metal.
