Coppery Cubes and Curls - Oglala Bracelet in Copper and Silver (3105)

I love to experiment with colors and textures, and this bracelet is the result of a recent pairing of disparate styles -- the frilly, ruffly look of Oglala combined with the modern simplicity of metallic silver and copper polka dotted cubes and shiny silver rounds.

If you look at any of my other Oglala bracelets (http://www.etsy.com/search_results_shop.php?search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_63053&search_query=oglala) you'll see that most of them are very feminine and dainty looking. This one took on a whole new look when I used the smaller cube and round beads as the focals. I'd say it's a successful experiment!

The bracelet is created using the Oglala stitch, a netting stitch named for the Lakota beadweavers who are credited with its creation. The beads used for the ruffled portion are silver-lined copper colored Czech glass beads. The focal beads are silver and copper colored glass. The cubes are my favorites -- silver-colored spots against a copper background.

The bracelet is about 7-3/4" (20cm) long, when closed; and it will comfortably fit a 6-1/2" to 7-1/4" wrist. The closure is a loop made from the same beads used for the ruffles and a toggle made from two of the cube beads.
