“A Little Tale”…

Fairy CatTail had what some may call a gift, but, she called it a curse and had no idea how it befell her.

Fairy CatTail had the ability to turn real living flowers, leaves, plants, bushes, vines, and the like, when at their peak of beauty, into “glass”, thus preserving their beauty forever. Sadly, this ability was not something she could turn off and on at will. Instead, it was active at all times. She could not escape it.

Being a lover of nature, she was drawn to nature’s beauty. She forgot herself many times and her ability/curse and would reach out and gently touch a beautiful flower. Instantly, the flower was altered and no longer alive, but, instead, frozen forever like a mannequin, preserved at its peak.

Whenever this happened, Fairy CatTail was distressed and overcome with a deep sadness in her soul and immeasurable grief. She felt she robbed the beautiful flower of its life and forced it to live frozen for all eternity.

She sought help to remove this curse from everywhere and everyone from wizards to witches to fairies and to elementals, but none could do so. Only the one who initially placed the curse or spell upon her was the one and the only one who could remove it. And, not even Fairy CatTail’s parents knew who placed the curse upon their child or why.

Fairy CatTail could not envision going through the rest of her life (Faeries live for hundreds and hundreds of years.) with this curse. So, to prevent causing any further harm to the world which was her duty and destiny to protect, she decided to leave her forever home, The Enchanted Woods, her loved ones and friends, and go live where she could do no harm, unintentional or not.

Saying farewell to her loved ones and friends and to her beloved Enchanted Woods was a tear filled and painful parting. Her parents begged her to stay and promised to spend the rest of their days trying to remove the curse and her Enchanted Woods seemed to be embracing her and holding her from leaving. But, her mind was set and she did indeed leave.

As she walked away from her past life, her tears rushed down her cheeks and clouded her eyes, thus making her vision blurry and it difficult to see her loved ones, friends, and The Enchanted Woods just standing and watching her go. The farther away she went the less she saw of what she left behind due to the blurriness and the distance. It was now all truly just a memory.

Fairy CatTail found a cave on the side of a hill with a rather large opening, many rooms, and absolutely no light. It was pitch black inside. She thought this a good omen and punishment for her past deeds since nothing she could harm could ever live, thrive or obtain beauty in these somber conditions. So, with a deep sigh, a one long last look at the beautiful sunlit world she was leaving forever and ever, Fairy CatTail walked bravely forward into the cave, her new home, with head up and shoulders back, to start her new life devoid of life and beauty.

Miniature in scale, it measures 1 1/8" tall. One of a Kind. The glue is non toxic. From a smoke free home. The green glass “vase” sits on a metal stand.

The story, the ideas, and the creation are my original ideas and execution.
