This lovely vacuum tube has a dark, intricate simplicity but the detail inside is facinating. A pattern of square holes shows glimpes of the interior. Its a bit more cyber punk - futuristic and yet retro - and perfect for anyone who loves technology or unique and unusual jewelry.

A similar vacuum tube was featured in WIRED magazine in an article by Clive Thompson. For me it was a geek girl's dream to get a write up in that magazine.

This vacuum tube necklace is part of my Industrial Evolution series. I love these wonderful vacuum tubes. Originally they would have been used in electronics - televisions, radios and even to make computers. Now, this stunning tube has been repurposed into an unusual piece of recycled jewelry. A number of musicians have also liked these because these kinds of tubes were used to make amplifiers.

This particular tube is around 6.4 cm long - just about 2.5 inches. Its 2cm wide about 0.8 inches. On the flip side it is stamped with some fading numbers and an ususual pattern of dots and USA.

I designed a "hardware" chain - using various bits of standard, modern hardware. For this piece I chose silver hardware - to contrast with the dark interior.

Its a unisex design - a perfect gift for a man or a woman. I know a few men that have bought these longer vacuum tubes because they really look outstanding.

This vacuum tube is made of glass - so please avoid smashing it. Vacuum tubes are pretty sturdy but I would avoid dropping them on cement floors etc. Still, I'm sure this will last for many, many years, just take care of it!

Perfect for steampunk wear, but my geek co-workers adore it (both the women and the men).

The chain is 18 inches - 46cm - with an additional few inches of an extention chain at the end so you can make it longer. If it is for a larger/taller man, do let me know because you might want me to adjust it (no charge) and make it a bit longer.
