Vintage Japanese kimono silk fabric panel ikat meisen butterfly
Description
Black butterflies flit among red, blue, gray and pink geometric shapes over a background of ivory. Dating from the 1930's-1950's, this silk panel is in very good condition but for a small stain. Like most meisen/ikat silks, it is slightly stiff.Measurements: 14.25" x 41" (36 cm x 104 cm)
This panel of silk was carefully unpicked from a vintage haori (kimono jacket), a process that takes on average two hours per garment. As with any vintage textile, signs of age and wear are to be expected.
