Description

Howard Hand Carders are handcrafted in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and they are manufactured to the exact specifications developed by the founders of the Howard Brothers Company in 1866. Each hand card is formed using select woods, with a gently curved compromise between flat and strongly curved cards, allowing for both styles of carding action. The handles are ergonomically designed to shape and fit, easy to orient, sturdily attached to the carder back and finished with a warm hand-rubbed sheen. These traditionally made hand cards are offered in 3 sizes: Standard, Student and Mini, and in several Teeth Per Inch (TPI) densities for the fiberarts community.

This particular set is a pair of the Mini Hand Carders perfect to slip into your fiber basket and take where ever you and your fiber obsession go. The TPI or Teeth Per Inch is 72 making the pair perfect for most fibers including wool and adult alpaca.

Carding paddles measure 4.5 x 4.25 inches. Entire size of carders are 9.25 x 4.5 inches.

I would not recommend this set for cria, cotton, angora, cashmere and camel. Look for the 120 TPI cloth available in my shop for use with these fibers.
