Description

This cozy shawl or wrap is soft to the touch, drapes beautifully and is well suited to both casual and dressy wear. The sterling silver shawl pin is made-to-match by Etsy seller creationsbyuli.etsy.com with a hand-painted Kazuri ceramic bead from Kenya.

The colours are deep and warm - reds, browns and black with blue and tan highlights in the hand-painted warp. The random placement of colors in both warp and weft simply dance in the light. Click on the pin image for a close-up.

I wove the shawl in plain weave, with a soft-spun weft of NZ multi-colored yarn of 75% fine Corriedale wool with a black knotted synthetic binder. The warp yarn is 60/40 kid mohair/merino.

The shawl measures 25 inches by 72 inches plus twisted fringes for a beautiful and long-lasting finish. I recommend a short, cool wash on gentle or handwash, air fluff and lay flat to dry.
