Description

This design concept is based on the historical European penannular cloak brooches from the middle ages.

This circular pin design beautifully holds shawls and wraps in place. The clever simplicity of this design looks both ancient and modern at the same time. It will anchor both light weight silk scarves and heavy woven shawls or capes in place without damaging the fibers.

This is for the polished copper finish shown in the first two pictures. (The patina finish is available in a separate listing.)

I forge the ring & sliding pin using heavy gauge copper and hammer, then harden the piece for several hours before applying a light verdigris patina followed with a protective beeswax rub. The brooch is sturdy with just the right amount of flex, and is not so heavy that it will weigh down or drag on your light weight scarf and shawl fabric. Each brooch is a unique piece, and the patina finish may vary slightly from the photos.

The circle measures around 1-1/2” diameter and the pin-rod is slightly longer. The pin-rod is filed to a blunt point to easily slip through stitches of woven or knitted fabrics, but let me know if you want it sharpened to pierce through tight weaves such as fine pashminas. For silk and chiffon scarves, I recommend going underneath & around the fabric layers rather than piercing through the fabric, as shown in the bottom photo.

This is super easy to figure out and use, and instructions are included.

In addition to holding wraps and accessories in place, this is a wonderful way to close a knitted cardigan for you knitters who prefer not to make buttonholes.

Note: I make each one to order and it takes a day to harden the brooch, then up to 2 days for the patina to develop. Please allow 3-4 days to get this shipped to you.
