a homemade strawberry cupcake painted with golden acrylics on the back of a punch maduro cigar box.

there is a small drilled hole on the back for an easy hanging. or you may chose to just place it on a shelf or table for display.

nota bene: the cigar box is sealed to maintain its structural integrity—this is a painting, not a storage box.

i enjoy painting on "cast off" cigar boxes as each box is unique, requiring individual consideration. at a cursory glance they may seem identical, especially if they are the same size, colour and brand. but the placement of each box's labels and stamps, it's dents and markings—it's history—that differentiates it. it is this distinctiveness that i like painting on cigar boxes.
