Intricately Carved Vintage Wood Box Hinged Lid

Description

This beautiful intricately detailed and expertly carved wooden box is made in India. There is a duck or some kind of water fowl carved in the center of the lid and the lid, all sides of the box, and the pedestal feet are all carved with layers of a decorative border design. All sides of the box have a flower carved in the center spot. The hinges and front clasp appear to be brass or brass plated. The exterior of the box is in excellent condition with no stains or cracks, chips or nicks. There are a few light green stains inside the box on the bottom panel that are quite small. I don’t know what kind of wood this is but the color is similar to maple or pine and it has a tight grain.

Measures 6 3/8” (16.2 cm) long, 4 1/8” (10.5 cm) wide, and 2.25” (5.7 cm) high (measurement take at the most exterior points). The inner container section of the box (measured from inside with lid open) is 4.75” (12.1 cm) long, 2.25” (5.7 cm) wide, and 1 5/8” (4.2 cm) high.
