Exploded In Walnut

Description

I did this coffee table, called the Exploded, thinking about the exploded views of various mechanical objects often seen in instructions or parts lists.

Its cutouts are made to store magazines, books or any objet d’art you have laying around.

Exploded is made of ¾ inch Baltic Birch cut on a very large CNC machine. The top surface can be covered in high pressure laminate, veneered or left as natural.

This particular Exploded in veneered with walnut, inside and out. It is also made with the fasteners showing through the legs which isn't something I've done with all of the Explodeds.

The brackets are cut on a high-tech laser cutter, and then powder-coated.

The Baltic birch edges are rounded over and all is sanded and finished by my own tired hand.

Exploded is 43 ½ inches long by 18 ¾ inches wide. It stands 16 inches high.
