Zygopetalum Blue Banks x self

These have been a very very speedy bunch of seedlings. I received them as protocorms last fall, and to my surprise they were already 2-3 inches tall and deflasking/compot size by February. I recently potted them out from compot because they are continuing to grow very fast. If they continue at this rate, they may reach blooming size in just two years!

Zygopetalums are generally fragrant and easy to grow. Blue Banks is a lilac-blue color, but as this is a selfing you may get burgundy, purple, fuchsia, and spots and stripes. Here in Maryland the plants will grow happily in a West-facing window, and may also do well in a South-facing window. In Southern CA or FL they may prefer the slightly cooler East-facing windows. Water frequently during the Summer, and only sightly less so in winter.

You will get one of the plants shown, which are in 2-2.5 inch pots, or one similar in size.
