PVC Quick and Easy Earring Thing for Balled Ear Wires for International Buyers, two different size ear wires and hook and eye clasps
Description
If you've seen the PIF(Pay It Forward) listing in my shop for this item you already know how simple it is to make great looking and uniform earring wires in a variety of styles with one of these, a pair of round nose pliers, a pair of wire cutters and either a tumbler or a soft hammer and a file. I'm offering this, in addition to the instructions in the PIF listing for making one, because if you don't already have the tools and materials to build one it would cost more to acquire them than to buy the jig, and you may never need those tools again. This is the URL for a YouTube video of making an ear wire using this kind of tool, running time 1:22:

This is basically the same tool as the regular Quick and Easy Earring Thing with one small modification, the addition of two little nails on the side for those who are comfortable using a torch to ball silver and copper.
What a world of difference when you're making balled ear wires! Using this tool, once you ball the wire you don't have to pick up any tool except the jig. This modification also gives an almost perfect uniformity to the finished wires, and you always know that the loop will fit over the nail beside the knitting needle piece.

I have had much interest from international buyers for this item but wood is illegal to ship to so many countries, and so risky as far as environmental impact, that I had to dream up something besides wood to make them from. I hit on PVC and even though it's more expensive to produce I'm thrilled with the results and happy to be able to offer it now. If I find something less expensive to use that gives equally good results I'll switch to it and be able to lower my asking price, which I'd love to do because this is such a wonderful tool that I'd like to see every jewelrymaker have one in his or her tool collection.
I've been playing with the design and now it gives you two different sizes, 8mm and 6mm interiors. It can also be used to make hook and eye clasps! To make the hooks insert the extra nail into the extra hole and wind the wire around it, then clip or pull the unfinished clasp off the jig and hold it across the loop firmly with flat nose, needle nose or bent nose pliers and wind the loose end around the body wire of the clasp.
If you are left-handed please tell me in "notes to seller" and I'll make an adjustment to one made especially for you!
The Quick and Easy Earring Thing comes with 2 copper earring wires and a hook and eye set, still mounted on the jig, so that you can further see how to use it.
People who have used this jig love it, my friend Melody makes evil noises if she thinks somebody wants to take it from her, lol. With a little practice it is easily possible to make around 60 pair of earring wires an hour with this. You can also use it for those balled ear wire designs.
With no moving parts to wear out, one of these will last indefinitely. The photo instructions in the PIF listing are so easy that I don't include a paper copy, better for the environment and cheaper for you. I know all jewelry artists need all the breaks they can get.
