This is a beautiful piece to add to your wardrobe. Riding habits were used for travel, horseback or walking excursions. These were usually worn by woman of higher status, so if you do - please remember to act the part! The listing is for a Jacket and matching petticoat.

The riding habit will be constructed to your measurements and fabric choice of wool, cotton velvet, silk, linen etc. up to 15$/m may be used for materials and is included in the price. Very ofter as seen here the bodice and petticoat were of a wool or linen and a velvet or silk was used for the cuffs and collar. Beginning to end all steps have been carefully done to ensure complete accuracy in this piece.
The arms are slightly longer than on most gowns of this period, wrist length and cut with the historical bended elbow shape. It was meant to correct posture, having you hold your arm bent around the waist. The bodice is lined in an oat colored linen.

This riding habit will button completely down the front, or double breasted. Some women want it smaller in the front so it does not button and so the waistcoat can show… It is up to you. The pockets can be working on request. Historically correct covered buttons are used for this coat and made from the same material as the habit. If you wish for pewter or brass buttons please ask. This garment is very fitted and will only fit over correct 18th century undergarments.

This ensemble is perfect for visiting the local military camp or dressing up for the day. It should be worn with your shift, stays, and Ladies habit shirt and optional waistcoat if double breasted, a tricorn hat and neck stock. The matching petticoat is provided, but others should be worn underneath to give the correct look.

History:
18th century Women’s riding habits were adapted from men’s uniforms. The jacket is shorter than a man’s coat but has similar buttons and trim. A waist coat and woman's shirt would also be worn with the habit. These can be purchase separately.
Just as a man's uniform has facings, so too can a woman's frock coat. If you would like it double breasted the entire outfit is $900 and can have facing colors of your choice down the front and cuffs.
