Lil Blue pigtail, .85 oz top whorl drop spindle

Description

This is a lightweight oak spindle with a pigtail hook that might help keep your yarn from popping out from under. They're sturdy enough to take some rough handling--perfect to pop in your bag for on the go spinning. This one is not notched but could be notched behind the hook at your request.

GENERAL: I cut my whorls from actual boards, using a drill press with a hole saw--these are NOT craft store blanks! Each is then carefully shaped and sanded to a smooth, snag-free finish. I use tiny, solid brass eye screws (opened and polished) rather than bulky cup hooks. Each spindle is signed, dated and the weight in fine print on the bottom of the whorl.

Though oak is a heavier wood than aspen, this also spins like a dream! The light weight makes it perfect for those slippery and/or short staple luxury fibers. Wonderful for spinning heavy lace and fingering weights.

An awesome choice for the beginner (much better than those clunky student spindles(much better than those clunky student spindles or toy wheel learn to spin kits) or the collector.
