Momma's Rugelah - 1 DOZEN - Apricot Filling

If you have never tasted Rugelah, or don't even know how to say it {try "Rugulah"}, then you MUST do so!

This soft, flaky, pastry-like 3-4" cookie is filled with sweet, chewy baked apricot, walnut and raisin filling. The rolled pastry is then sprinkled generously with a cinnamon sugar mixture just before it goes in to the oven to bake. The result is beyond delicious!

Growing up with a Jewish heritage, I knew these as an ethnic treat, but much to my surprise, I have found that many many people bake these cookies for the Holidays! Who knew?! I guess the local bakeries spread the word!
