Turquoise and brown lampwork bead earrings

OK, I admit it. I have a weakness for lampwork beads. I LOVE them! I can't stop myself from buying them...maybe it's an addiction! I'm just so amazed that a real, live person takes rods of colored glass and heats it up with a torch until it's molten, and makes gorgeous beads out of it! It's so fascinating!

And as much as I don't want to share, it's a lesson I learned very young, so I'm sharing some of my favorite bead with you. I've showcased them in simple earrings, put together with sterling silver wire. I've made all of the metal components myself, including the earwires.

This particular pair of earrings has my version of a "safety" kidney wire, which latches in the back so that they won't fall out. A beautiful set of lampwork beads dangles from them. The beads have a base color of a rich, chocolaty brown, an equator of a light tan color, and little turquoise dots around the equator. There are also a couple of small dots of melted fine silver swirling around in there, to add a little bit of metallic, sparkly interest.
