Connected Shapes Pin
Description
I found this sextagonal washer. It had such an interesting shape that I had to use it in this piece! I've made a tube rivet for its center, then soldered a bezel cup to hold the beautiful little burnt orange carnelian cabochon. I think the color against the blue washer is so pretty. I colored the oxidized washer with a blue prismacolor pencil. It's waxy and holds well to the rusted background. It also preserves the metal. 2 1/4" long and 1 1/2" across widest part. The brass square is etched, cut to shape, and both pieces are enclosed in a sterling silver bezel. The forged sterling bar sets them off nicely, I think. This is a fun piece! It's certainly one-of-a-kind!
Since the pin stem is centered and verticle, this piece can easily be worn as a pendant, too.
