There is an antique shop not far from where I live that you could get lost in for hours! I recently did just that in search of some vintage treasures that I could incorporate in to my work.
I found this really cool butterfly. I don't use much in the way of gold metal in my work but I was instantly drawn to the beautiful design pattern on this old pin. The gold is a nice pale color too, not glaring. I believe it's base metal may be brass.
I surrounded it with some of my favorite stained glass,Youghiogheny,in a rich blue green. I tucked in tiny flecks of mirrored glass to add a small reflective touch.
That is framed with glass tube beads in black, triangles of glass tile in amber and gold glass czech seed beads. The border is made up of wonderfully colored red jasper beads.

Grouted in a black and the buckle base is an antiqued silver finish metal.

Buckle is 3 5/8" x 3".
