1879 The Lady of the Aroostook by W.D. Howells
Description
"The Lady of the Aroostook" by W.D. Howells. Copyright 1879 by W.D. Howells, published by Houton, Mifflin, and Company, printed The Riverside Press, Cambridge. I believe this to be an unstated first edition, first printing. Also known as William Dean Howells, the author was an realist versus an idealist. This novel was written during America's Victorian period, and is set in Massachusetts. Gilt decoration on the front and spine, and there is a lovely art nouveau bookplate inside the front cover. There is a small booksellers sticker on the inside of the back cover. The book is in good condition for its age. A little wrinkling and soiling to a few of the pages, the hinge is slightly cracked (although the binding is fully intact). No odors. The spine has shifted sideways just a little. 316 pages.Added on Nov 04, 2009
