raku heishi beads hydrangea

Description

46 medium raku beads, irregular raku heishi beads measuring approx. 6-12mm tall on the glazed surface and about 11-12mm across the unglazed surface with the hole. These medium heishis have a 2-3mm hole for stringing which are pretty well centered. The heishis are partially glazed on the sides with a layering of hydrangea pink and rusty brown. It's a purple-pink. I tried to take pictures in different lighting. The unglazed areas came out very dark. I mixed the pink, so there are a few purplish spots.

The raku process produces surface irregularities and can produce small chips and crazing. Raku produces soot most of which can be washed off, but some remains. I have washed and filed areas that were too rough. The black coloration is absorbed into the surface of the bead and ranges in color from black to light gray. All clay beads are breakable.

These are new beads.
