Vintage Birthstone Vermeil Brooch-Mother or Grandmother ca 1950

Offered is a vintage mother's or grandmother's birthstone brooch. It is gold wash over sterling silver (vermeil), and is a tree, set with a garnet and an amethyst, and 9 rhinestones. The rhinestones were undoubtedly meant to be removed and replaced with the birthstone of the newest child or grandchild. The stones are 5mm in diameter, and the tree/brooch stands 2" tall.

This brooch is in good condition. The gold wash has darkened in several places, but it does not affect the overall look or quality of the piece. The back is stamped "STERLING," and bears a trademark. The original box is included, with the name "Catamore" inside the lid.

This is a wonderful vintage piece.
