Vespertina™ Botanical Perfume in a 1 gram glass vial along with the limited edition music CD and 24 page, full color booklet. The music and story of Vespertina is what inspired the fragrance.

The combination of the perfume, music and illustrated book provide the perfect mediums to take you on an epic journey through the senses.

Categorized as a floral perfume which moves into the terrain of wood and oriental. The dominant theme is a very romantic floral, with woody and oriental aspects peeking through.

The Visions of Vespertina is a collaborative music project created by Greg Spalenka and Michelle Barnes. The CD and the perfume are both concept driven. The fragrance weaves in the different elements surrounding the main character of the story, Vespertina.

The Visions of Vespertina is a musical odyssey complimented by a 24 page booklet of art. In this limited edition CD we follow a young 14th century mystic as she journeys to the underworld of her soul.

The music has been described as New Age Gothic. Take a trip with Vespertina and experience an ethereal fusion of art, song and fragrance.

The fragrance was built around rose and other supporting floral notes. This aligned well with the unfolding story of Vespertina and her devotional, feminine nature. Since the female character is a visionary mystic I wove in some of the essences I associate with this archetype; Lotus, Sandalwood, Oud, Frankincense and Myrrh. Vespertina is a floral perfume with a progressive evolution moving from its citrus top notes into the strong floral heart immediately. The dry down varies depending on skin chemistry. In some cases the vestiges of the evolution remain a floral hum, while on others the scent transcends into incense with wood or a wood and leather. The main notes are orange, rose, jasmine and incense. The aroma conjures a mythic time, the mood is devotional and epic.

Visions of Vespertina, "Illuminated Music". Illustrators Michelle Barnes and Greg Spalenka collaborated together to create an art booklet accompanied by a CD of their original compositions. The booklet is sumptuous, with beautiful drawings of mythic creatures and nymphs, floating typography, and collages. The music itself is what you might get if Kate Bush wrote the score for Peter Greenaway film. The delicacy of the compositions (synthetic pseudo-classical) is nicely set off by the insistent rhythm patterns. Barnes' voice is light, airy, and wispy. It's nicely bolstered by multi-tracking and the harmonies provided by back-up singers. Some people might find the lyrics-medieval and "gothic"-a bit on the precious, twee side. But the soufflé-like production values, and the beauty of the accompanying art booklet makes any such pretensions forgivable. ~ Craig
