→ DESCRIPTION: I already have a listing up with lovely vintage dictionary illustrations from this awesome, full-sized collegiate dictionary from the 1950's and now they are available with super fun words, yay! This listing is for anyone who would prefer choosing their own words for their buttons. If you don't mind a random mix, check my shop because the listing for a random assortment is cheaper since those are quicker to do! I know we live in an age of dictionary.com but the only way to find words in a 1950's dictionary is to page through a 700 page book until I find the word you want so it does take some time!

So! Here's how you go about choosing: please send me a list of THIRTY words - ten that are your top choices and 20 alternates. I ask for so many extras because this is a dictionary that has already been used quite a bit to make buttons featuring the lovely illustrations and several pages have been taken out and added to the vintage paper packs in my shop so it is definitely possible that you won't get every word in your top ten but giving me plenty of alternates means you still get to choose the words yourself. Please remember that if your back-up choices are likely to be on the same page (i.e. love, lovely, lover, loves, loving, lovingly, etc) then it's going to be harder to fill your request because I can tell you now that the "love" page is missing and if one choice is missing, any choices that have the same first three or four letters are likely to be missing as well. Also, any newly-minted word like "Facebook" or "bootylicious" are not going to be in a dictionary from the 1950's so try to keep that in mind as well.

Here's a list of words that have already been requested and were either not present or have been used for an order that's already been placed:
love, sweetheart, kiss, family, adore, smile, happiness, joy, darling, hug, dazzle, lovely, dear, sweetie, jewel, wonderful, life, grin, girl, embrace

→ ADDITIONAL INFO: This listing is for the buttons only, though the round brass settings (as well as the early 1900's era French text flatback buttons pictured in the settings) are available in my shop. These would also make great rings, hair pins or stud earrings (blanks / bases for each of these are available in my shop!). These buttons are all unique and also limited in supply - I also use this book to make the dictionary illustration cabs in my shop and I've gone through a good chunk of it so despite the endlessness of dictionaries, i will eventually run out of these and there are probably a lot of words that more than one person will want but they're only in the dictionary once so it's first come, first serve!
Age spots, smudges and handwritten notations from long ago pop up from time to time but are rare and can be left out if you prefer.
These are mainly sold as flatback buttons (the kind you can glue to settings and pretty much anything really) but I can also make them as pinbacks (the kind you wear) per your request.

PLEASE note that they will only be made as pinbacks if you let me know that is your preference in the "note to seller" field on Etsy's checkout page! **FLATBACK** BUTTONS WILL BE SENT IF NO PREFERENCE IS STATED. This is important because I will not send you free replacements if you forget to tell me which kind you want - most orders are for flatbacks and if you don't tell me you want pinbacks, I don't have any way of knowing that that is what you want. Please tell me your preference. Please please pleeease! Thank you!
→ COLOR: The paper is aged to a nice, pale buttery patina which I captured to the best of my ability in the photos. Please be aware that different computer monitors can show colors differently so slight variations between what you see on the screen and what you receive can occur. There can also be slight variations in the coloring on different pages and different areas of a book this old so please keep this in mind as well.
