Spool Dollies - medium girl with measuring tape

Description

Spool Dollies are made from vintage wood spools that date from the late 1800s up to the mid 1900s. The spools come from factories that were primarily located in the United States and Canada, but I also use spools from a few European manufacturers including Italy, France, and Great Britain.

I hand paint each doll, including their faces, and sign and date the bottom of each spool. Occasionally I leave the thread on the dollies if the color is especially pretty. I seal everything with non-toxic acrylic varnish. Occasionally I add bows or other decorations to the dolls and these are all glued in place.
