Title: Argyle Beard (Baxter)
Dimensions: 5.25" x 6.5"
Medium: Ink and colored pencil

Description:

While I am not much of a beard person (my Dad has a beard, otherwise, I find them scratchy to kiss, so I’ll pass) I’ve noticed that they are a recurring design feature of other artists’ work. While I don’t care for them on my man, I guess I can see the coolness of their appearance, as so many other things in this world have compelling design components, while having a considerably more objectionable physical reality, such as insects, spiders, and crustaceans.

Ashleyg and LittleRobot were two of the first artists I ‘hearted’ when I joined Etsy, and they both seem to see the inherent beauty in the beard.

Every day this week I have finished a drawing, which is unprecedented for me, and needless to say, has led to the overall decay and entropy of my entire household. I had decided, unofficially, not to make another drawing today, but, the muse being what it is, apparently I didn’t have a choice in the matter. So for some reason, as I was waking up this morning, I saw a rather simple man with a simple beard, and his beard had an argyle pattern on it. Perhaps I was cold. Go figure.
To additionally satisfy the geek in myself and the majority of my viewers... the Argyle pattern is derived from the tartan of the Campbell Clan, of Argyll in Western Scotland. Wikipedia further states that in many communities, December 1st is recognized as Argyle Day, so I am a few weeks early. Enjoy.

This work is an original drawing, not a print or reproduction. It is rendered in permanent, archival ink and Prismacolor colored pencils on acid-free drawing paper. It is sold unframed.
