La Belle Epoque Brass Steampunk Goggles

Description

These were vintage Swiss skiing goggles, before I added the steampunk vibe to them with the gorgeous vintage filigree trim which is firmly riveted in place. The goggles had a small crack in one of the lenses which I repaired with epoxy resin. To help to hide this small imperfection I added a crackle finish to both lenses and then went over that with a touch of gold paint. This renders the goggles more appropriate for decorative wear. They are still somewhat translucent as you can see in the picture where they are off the mannequin, but not recommended for driving or other maneuvering. The filigree trim gives these an elegance not usually associated with most steampunk goggles. They have the original fabric ties and are ready to add steam to your best get-up.
