Treasures from the Queensland Beaches and Rockpools - Crochet Patterns for Bookmarks and Motifs

This pattern series includes pdf patterns to be worked in a 4ply, (size 10 thread) and include scallops, pipi, baby sweetip, large and small periwinkles and the spanner crab. I had a fun time designing these which would look fantabulous as appliques on summer items.

My memories of summer as a child include searching for treasures on the beach and in the rockpools of the Queensland Coast. As a kid we would always go to the Sunshine Coast or Stradbroke Island, or to my Grandma who lived on the Esplanade of Moreton Bay. I would always come home with buckets of shells. My brothers and I would try and catch the little fish that got stranded in the rockpools or lagoons at the beach. I designed the little fish to use a minimum of thread.

The scallop shell, and the pipi are bi valve shells that are quite common. If you walk along the beach and squish you toes in the sand you can find them. Fisherman use the flesh of the pipi for bait.
Periwinkles have a nice spirally shell. These patterns include both a large and small version. The spanner crab is a Queenland delicacy. He has large claws like a spanner.

Instructions are provided in both Australian/ English and American terms. Patterns will be emailed to you in a pdf format. There are no shipping costs.
Materials used include 4ply crochet cotton with a 1.75 (5 steel)hook, or 20 thread with a 1.00mm (10 steel).
