Ammonite Fossil necklace
Description
Wear a piece of ancient history!I found this fabulous ammonite at a gem, fossil and mineral show. It was mined in Madagascar. The brown and brick red coloring is spectacular. I have wrapped it very simply in antiqued brass wire and hung it from an open link antiqued brass chain that closes with a lobster claw clasp.
The necklace measures 18 inches and has a 2 inch extender chain that allows you to adjust its length.
The ammonite measures 2 inches by 1 5/8 inches.
Ammonites are perhaps the most widely known fossil, possessing a ribbed spiral-form shell. These creatures lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs.
This ammonite has been sliced in half and the surface polished to a glossy shine.
