Description

Vintage rose pink fossil stone shell beads! Like all of the fossil stone I have in my shop, they have a fabulous lacey pattern on them and of course no two are alike!

These are unusual and hard to find beads nowadays that are carved from fossil stone!
They have been dyed a wonderful shade of what I call "rose quartz" pink as I mixed them with rose quartz for a design I did for Bloomingdales.

Fossil stone is unique to Taiwan and is a dense limestone containing microscopic marine fossils. Because of the nature of this material,no two beads are alike and the patterns and colorations are unique to each bead.
Fossil stone also takes a wonderful polish as you can see in the photographs and can be dyed a variety of colors.

We sold many of these fossil stone beads through the Smithsonian Institution's museum shop and mail order catalog during the 1980's and they were also featured in trunk shows at Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue during this same time period.
