Mug with Peony and Violet
Description
This coffee cup is made of white stoneware clay fired to cone 6. The inside and rim are glazed with a mottled blue glaze that breaks to a golden tan where thinner. The glaze is lead and barium free and is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher.It holds 1 and 1/8 cups of liquid. It is 4 and 3/8 inches tall and the base is 3 and 3/8 inches wide. The rim spans 2 and 1/2 inches across. At the widest section it measures 10 and 3/4 inches around.
The outside of the cup is imprinted with real leaves. The exterior has been painted and rubbed with an iron oxide to accentuate the veins of the leaves. All colors are waterproof and permanent. The leaves used to make the impressions were intermediate wood fern, wisteria, hydrangea, red maple, wood sorrel, peony, passion flower, geranium carolina, beggartick, columbine, tulip poplar, violet, henbit and trumpet vine.
This cup is discounted due to little stress cracks from torque and pulling during throwing. They do not impair the function of the cup. See last picture.
