300 grams Fair Trade Handspun Recycled Sari Silk Art Yarn, 225 yards

Description

This lot of yarn consists of three skeins of handspun recycled sari silk yarn. Each skein weighs about 100 grams, for a total of approx. 300 grams (10.5 ounces). Each skein is 75-80 yards. You will receive the exact skeins depicted in this photo, all for just $16.

This beautiful "art yarn" differs from some of my other silk yarn listings in that the diameter of this yarn is larger and there are more slubs. If you'd prefer a thinner, less fuzzy, more uniform yarn, see my listings with "Top Quality" in the title. Art yarn is spectacular, but may be challenging for beginners.

This recycled yarn is high quality. It is handspun by a women's collective in Nepal with whom I've worked closely for years; your purchase helps these women improve their lives and educate their children. Compared to lower-grade recycled silk yarn, it is more tightly twisted and it is soft, smooth, and clean. As with all recycled silk yarn, it may not be completely colorfast when wet - I recommend handwashing separately in cold water with a gentle detergent. If needed, use a bit of fabric softener to maintain softness.

If you have severe allergies to metal, then it may be best to avoid recycled silk yarn due to the fact that it may contain tiny amounts of metallic thread, a popular embellishment for saris.
