Vintage brass chains, double stranded and beaded Team ESST, etsyChai Team, etsyTrashion Team, etsyMOMS Team
Description
As you may have noticed if you've looked around here lately, I've listed quite a few vintage lockets, pendants, and charms.Naturally I have been looking for chains to go with these, and I'll be listing them as I get a chance.
Odd as it seems, most of the vintage copper is shiny, while much of the new copper is "antiqued". Go figure. They can go together--the copper bracelets, for instance, would work well with our copper wolf charms.
Naturally I'll tell you what I know about the chains, but some of my suppliers give me more info than others, so it will vary. Basically most of them seem to come from Rhode Island and Massachusetts, which were major jewelry manufacturing areas from maybe the 1940s into, in some cases, the 1990s, though some of the components were made elsewhere. Apparently several of these warehouses are liquidating old stock.. I don't necessarily know how much of anything my suppliers actually have, and they don't necessarily know if or how much more will be available, so I'm buying as much as I can before it disappears and/or prices go up, and I suggest that you do the same if it's something you want and will use.
I've just sold out of the 24" textured steel chain, though I may be able to get some that looks amazingly similar but says it;s silver-plated.
Meanwhile, I thought I'd list a few more choices.
This listing is for 4 double-stranded brass chains, probably from the 1970s or'80s, They are 24" long, with brass spring-ring clasps hooked into those little teardrop-shaped tabs that usually mean a high quality chain, and they are interspersed with groups of 3 small barrel-shaped brass beads--less than 3" apart at the front, but gradually increasing to about 5" just before the clasp. The chain has about 1mm links, and the beads are about 5x4mm each.
You could easily put pendants or charms between the beads, which might provide interesting spacing, with jumprings or bails, but it would be almost equally easy to remove one central bead from a set and replace it with something else, or remaove the sets of beads and replace them with connectors, pendants, or what have you.
Though these chains look delicate, their construction really makes them quite sturdy. I will be selling only 20 of these, so if you need more convo me for a custom listing before they're gone. Thay have a nice patina, but of course would shine up nicely. They'd look great holding some of our vintage chai, lockets, or even our (non-vintage) rhinestone letters.
