This business is starting to look more like my own personal fetish confessional than anything else. Well...if it ain't broke...tell 'em another dirty story, I guess. I've had a long standing fixation with all things Russian. I think it started with the Olympics, watching all those eerily beautiful girls with the twelve letter names twirl about. Then again, I'm old enough to remember nuclear disaster drills in second grade, so maybe it's more twisted than that.

Anyway, the fixation turned full fetish in high school when I dated a boy who spoke Russian. I literally melted everytime he whispered in my ear. He went to Russia with his class and brought me back a khohloma box, a Spetsnaz sweater (still wear it), and a story about the universal enormity of Russian men's hands. That sealed it. Now everytime I walk through a stand of birch trees I crave strong tea with lemon, sweet berry jam, and...get a little hot in the pants.

Odessa (which I realize is in Ukraine, forgive my stereotypes) is my tribute to that fantasy. A blend of black tea, cinnamon, and blackberry jam, it's softened with touches of incense, peony and rose. I even included a boozy little kick to keep you warm on these short, cold days.
