Birch Bark - Mod Necklace from the Captured Collection

This Modern Pendant is composed of birch bark that has been set in sterling silver and permanently sealed behind a clear resin.

This listing is for one pendant, measuring approximately 1" in diameter. Your pendant comes with a 16" or 18" sterling silver snake chain. Please let me know which chain length you would prefer by leaving me a note during check-out.

Due to the unique nature that composes this piece, each Birch Bark Pendant will be slightly different.

All of my work is handmade by me in my simple studio that is located on the sunny side of a 100-year-old farmhouse in the woods of Virginia.

ARTIST STATEMENT about the "CAPTURED COLLECTION":

I have always been attracted to the plethora of color, texture, and pattern that is nature's canvas, so I often bring plastic bags with me for long walks in the woods (and not because I have a dog). I like to collect random bits of nature to inspire my creative work. Then recently I discovered how to incorporate these materials into my metal jewelry, in the "Captured Collection."

The "Captured Collection" explores the human need to make timeless those treasures in life that bring us joy. All things organic are in a constant state of change. By sealing these found materials in a clear epoxy resin, I am able to suspend them in time. By becoming a wearable object set in precious metal, each bit of bark, tiny flower petal, or autumn leaf is viewed in a new light .
