For the doll who’s not afraid to make a little bit of a statement, Melody Valerie Couture is pleased to offer the Statement in Taffeta dress. Clad in this, your American Girl doll will be ready to take on holiday parties and balls in confident, distinguished style. And she’ll know she won’t be dressed the same as anyone else there, because this dress is one of only four ever made.

The base of this dress is a crispy, crunchy, dark purply-blue taffeta, interlined for stability and shape, and then sculpted into a princess-seamed, v-shaped bodice. For drama, we cut off one shoulder and replaced it with a gathered white silk duppioni strap (which doubles as the signature Melody Valerie Couture bow). Onto the bodice we gathered a luxuriously full skirt. The taffeta has so much body that it stands out all by itself — no petticoat required! Then, to complete the design, we repeated the white silk from the shoulder strap in a narrow band around one half of the waist.

The back of the dress (whose neckline is slightly asymmetrical) opens and closes with an invisible zipper. Inside, the bodice is fully lined with a deliciously soft midnight blue silk/rayon blend.

Your doll’s Statement in Taffeta will arrive in its own spacious box, swathed in tissue paper and accompanied by care instructions and a sprig of fragrant lavender to keep it fresh and lovely during the journey.
