Dual is a fine art letterpressed book that won a place in The 62nd Annual Western Books Exhibition. It was typeset in Pabst Old Style and has handlettered prose as well. Hand carved linoleum blocks are printed on Environmental paper and are hand cut to reveal alternated sheets of translucent vellum. The illustrations and text depect a fight between conjoined twins Castor & Pollux, who hate each other. The book is Japanese style hand bound and sewn with white linen thread. The covers are a heavily textured artists paper. An edition of 30 copies were printed in the Otis College letterpress lab. It measures 8 X 7 1/2 inches. This book is another unique twin item, and when it is set upright slightly open so the pages fan, it has interesting dimension due to the cut shapes and alternating papers, creating shapes and spaces that suggest a theatrical shadow play.
