One ounce is kept undyed as this is the easiest to learn with and one ounce is handdyed in our gorgeous Moody Blues colorway. Also enclosed is a beautiful single stone whorl spindle handcrafted by April of Woolyvines (http://woolyvines.blotspot.com). The purchase of your spindle kits also includes 30 days of email consultation with April. You will receive her email address upon order of your kit. We've also enclosed very detailed directions that are free to the spinning community, courtesy of Interweave Press.

April's "Lapis fusiformis" - Stone Whorl Spindle is a top whorl spindle with a hardwood shaft. The whorl is approximately 1.75-2.00 inches in diameter. The whorls are made from a variety of natural stones including Aventurine, Burmese Jade, Dalmatian Jasper, Fluorite, Granite, Lapis Lazuli, Leopard-skin Jasper, Jadeite, Quartz, Red Jasper, Rose Quartz, Serpentine, Sodalite, Picture Jasper, Unakite, White Jade. (Samples for many of these are below). Check the item description photo to see the specific whorl that you are purchasing. We recommend new spinners using these spindles over carpeted floors as the whorls could break if dropped on hard floors such as tile & concrete.
